One lamp welcomes the goddess of wealth. She blesses all with wisdom and health. Feasts. Fireworks. Fun with family and friends. Shine a light on the magical moments that make up Diwali, the Festival of Lights, in this warm and dazzling storybook. During this very special time of the year, join in the fun and count glittering lanterns one by one to celebrate all the wonderful traditions and treats Diwali has to offer - music and mouthwatering sweets, swirling rangolis and sweet-smelling marigolds, laughter and light. With Chitra Soundar's lyrical rhymes and rich, vibrant illustrations from Amberin Huq, this is the perfect gift to celebrate one of the world's biggest and brightest holidays.
Chitra Soundar is an Indian-born British writer and storyteller. She is the author of over 40 books for children, including the award-winning picture books Youre Safe with Me and Youre Snug with Me, illustrated by Poonam Mistry. Chitra has lived in more than three countries and has published in Asia, North America and Europe. As well as writing books, she is a speaker, oral storyteller and toe-dipper in writing for the small screen. Her stories are inspired by her close-knit family, her growing up in India filled with epics and folktales, play-acting and her travels around the world. Amberin Huq is an Illustration graduate from University College Falmouth. She dreams of a studio in a peaceful place by the sea, but for now, she lives and works under a massive heap of paper in her London studio. Amberin loves to create atmospheric illustrations, lively characters and has a new-found love of working in black and white. She has illustrated books for children of all ages, including several books in the Bloomsbury Readers series.
