See the beauty around you with Ava and her adventuring parents. Avas parents are explorers, and the family is travelling around the world to find the rare ghost orchid. On their way, Ava marvels at the wonders around her: a moose in the woods, the starry desert sky, a blue whale swimming under their boat. But her parents focus is on getting to the ghost orchid before its short-lived bloom fades, so they dont notice the wonders of the journey.
"Theres a touch of the Not Now Bernard mentality in the tunnel vision approach of Avas parents, though happily they make a decision about slowing down, enjoying the moment and looking through wider lenses on future expeditions" * Books for Keeps *
"Explore the Ava way with this gentle, beautifully illustrated picture book" * LoveReading4Kids *
"Ghost Orchid is a gentle and beautifully illustrated story... an important reminder to adults to champion and listen to the voices of the young!" * Just Imagine *
Fiona Lumbers has drawn on anything and everything from an early age and always insisted she would be an artist when she grew up. Fiona moved to London in 2000 to study for an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. A combination of her obsession with picture books and the arrival of her first son led her down the path of illustration and she hasn't looked back since. Nothing makes her happier than splashing watercolours and inks and conjuring up new characters - often influenced by the exploits of her two sons.
