An inspiring picture book that encourages readers to not only dream up big ideas, but to be persistent, resilient, and to think outside the box-or the lemonade glass! One scorching summer day, Eva comes up with a great idea- a lemonade stand! But when she sees that Jake across the street has his own stand, and he's giving away free cookies, Eva knows she needs another idea to keep people lining up. Eureka-new flavors! Except Jake has ideas too-bigger and better ones, and more customers! Soon Eva is out of ideas, and, she thinks, out of business. But sometimes the best ideas are where you least expect to find them. Instead of giving up, Eva discovers something different (and cool!) that lets her succeed in a whole new way.
"Eva is portrayed as a problem solver, meeting challenge after challenge by pondering, experimenting, and trying new possibilities. The whimsical illustrations highlight Eva's thought processes, showing how her new ideas snap, sizzle, and sprout. The book is a visual treat (be sure to check out the endpapers), and the message about persevering is inspiring." -- Booklist
"This story provides a positive characterization of a young girl who is motivated and determined, a truly positive female character. This book would prove to be a fun read for any aspiring young entrepreneur." -- School Library Connection
"This one should make for an immersive read-aloud that will have readers impressed by Eva's perseverance and can-do spirit... Sure to encourage budding young business owners to follow the protagonist's example" -- Kirkus Reviews
