The little doll Flora is lonely and sad because she cant travel the world like her best friend Robert the Bird. To cheer her up, Robert invites two of his best friends overMagic Box, a boastful fellow with a box for a head, and Humpty Dumpty, the shy Englishman in the shape of an egg. Magic Box, who says he can make anything with his magic scissors, snips a house out of paper for them to have a party. But when a storm comes and puts them all in danger, its Humpty Dumpty who comes to the rescue.
Back in print, this thoughtful and adventurous story is a classic of European childrens literature.

Binette Schroeder (1939-2022) was born in Hamburg, Germany. After studying graphic design at a private school in Munich, Germany, she studied at the university for design in Basel, Switzerland. Floras Magic House, her debut, was an artistic breakthrough. Some of her other books include: Mr. Gray and Frieda Frolic, Binette Schroeders Well of Stories, and The Frog Prince. Her oeuvre was awarded the Special Prize of the German Youth Literature Prize in 1997, and in 2004 the Grand Prize of the Academy for Children and Adolescent Literature, Volkach, Germany. Binette Schroeder lived in Munich with her husband, Peter Nickl, a childrens book author and a lawyer.
