Lenny the Lemur is on holiday in the Amazon rainforest. He's just settling down for a nice snooze, when a very yucky smell wafts past . . .Poo-ie! What or who could it be Lenny sets off to track down the source of the nasty niff . . . Along the way, he meets lots of stinky creatures, finding out about the different smells they make and why. Learn about sloths, skunks, stinkbugs and more in the whiff-tastic Poo! Is That You written by Clare Helen Welsh and illustrated by Nicola O'Byrne. Cleverly interweaving facts throughout, it also contains an information page at the back of the book, with a photo of each animal.
A hilarious book which will have children, young and old alike, howling with laughter. Because what is funnier to children than stinky smells! ...This book is a great way t o introduce children to a range of creatures that inhabit the South American jungle, delivered in a very funny way. Information pages at the back of the book tell us more about each of them, providing a good springboard for future learning about animals and the natural environment. A perfect book for reading aloud, children will delight in joining in with the question 'Poo! Is that you' which is asked of each stinky jungle inhabitant throughout the book. O'Byrne's illustrations accompany the text very well; her depictions of each animal are delightful, particularly Lenny, the cute and curious Lemur -- School Librarian
Clare Helen Welsh is a primary school teacher with over ten years experience in Early Years and Key Stage One. Clare loves writing funny stories but is particularly passionate about writing stories that help children deal with big feelings and difficult issues. Clare lives in Devon with her husband and two children and she says she does her best writing by the sea, which is lucky because she lives close to many beautiful beaches and the salty sea air. Nicola O'Byrne was born in Swaziland, grew up in Singapore and has lived in Papua New Guinea, Kenya, Edinburgh, London and Cambridge. She now lives in sunny Los Angeles with her husband, Sjoerd, and their invisible dog, Chewbacca. In her spare time she enjoys weightlifting and baking. In 2014 her picture book Open Very Carefully won the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize, the Stockport Children's Book Prize and the Oldham's Brilliant Book Award, was highly commended for the UKLA Book Award and shortlisted for Oscar's First Book Prize and the Sheffield Children's Book Award.
