For over 20 years, the words from The Little Yellow Digger have resonated in households throughout Australasia. Some of the original listeners are now parents themselves, introducing their own children to this iconic Kiwi story of which they have such fond memories. Peter Gilderdale has worked with his mothers series of stories and his fathers familiar art, from the much-loved original Little Yellow Digger range to produce an all-new rhyming story in this handsome lift-the-flap alphabet book. Children will delight in discovering the calligraphy-style alphabet letters hidden beneath the flaps.
Peter Gilderdale is a senior lecturer in communication design at AUT and the School of Art and Design's Associate Head of School (Research and Innovation). Apart from his supervising roles, he primarily teaches design theory. Betty Gilderdale is known for her biographies and adult publishing, but she is even better known for her invention of this popular piece of machinery. A lecturer in English with numerous books behind her, Betty takes The Little Yellow Digger stories very seriously - giving them as much time and consideration as her more lengthy works for adults. Together with her late husband, Alan, she created the Little Yellow Digger legacy.
