Bridget lives in the sleepy, seaside town of Hinklewinkle. She spends a lot of time with her Grandpa. Her mother often has to work late and her father lives in another town. Luckily, her caring Grandpa is always close at hand to help out. Grandpa breeds show chickens and Bridget loves to help out. One day when Bridget is feeling a little lonely, Grandpa decides to let Bridget pick a chicken of her own. Far from picking the most beautiful chicken, she picks a strange looking roster she names the Duke of Hinklewinkle. The two become inseparable. When Grandpas cranky old neighbour, Mr Borewaters chickens are under threat, The Duke of Hinklewinkle surprises everyone.
John Phillips is a talented and versatile author/illustrator who loves to create bright, lively illustrations full of movement and fun. John has combined his passion for entertaining story telling with his eclectic artistic talent and a decidedly off centre sense of humour to create childrens book projects that truly shine. His own grandfathers battle with dementia, and the increasing impact of the disease in the community, was the inspiration for Grandpa and Tuska. John Phillips lives in rural Victoria with his 12 guitars and a piano. He is a loving Pa to four little ones aged 18 months to four years old.
