The 10th anniversary special edition of this beautifully illustrated story has a powerful message of conservation and is full of things for parents and children to talk about. It also includes bonus content and activities.

Frann Preston-Gannon was the UK's first recipient of a Sendak Fellowship and spent a month living with the great Maurice Sendak himself at his home in Connecticut, USA. She worked on The Journey Home during her stay. The bookwas shortlisted for both the Waterstones Children's Prize and the Cambridgeshire 'Read it Again' Book Prize and was nominated for the Kate Greenaway medal. In 2015 The Journey Home was reimagined as a play by the London based puppet theatre, Little Angels.

A thought-provoking story Visually, the muted tones and thick brush strokes give it an attractive earthy feel. [Within] the back matter you'll find some excellent suggestions for projects, activities and conversation starters to support the intended learning outcomes of the story. There's also a section full of animal facts. And another section describing all the successful conservation work that's going into preserving and protecting these animals which I found most uplifting. Storybook Mama

Another beautiful book reaching its tenth anniversary, and it's just as poignant now as it was then his book also features a fab section at the back with animal facts, discussion points and much more! Really great teaching resource for introducing topics such as conservation and climate change An excellent read for little eco-warriors out there, but all children would benefit from reading a book on this topic.

This is an absolute delight for the eye. Frann Preston-Gannon transformed this story in a beautiful visual masterpiece. The story is sensitively told, expressing the current environmental concerns we all should be worried about. The final message is one of hope in the future! Author Bio

Frann Preston-Gannon is a London-based illustrator who graduated from Kingston University in 2010. In 2011 she was the UK's first recipient of a Sendak Fellowship and spent a month in residence working with the great Maurice Sendak. She was awarded a bronze in the no.8 3x3 Annual of Contemporary llustration for her unpublished children's work. Frann is the author of The Journey Home (9781843652090) and Dinosaur Farm (9781843652113).
