Another beautiful book; this time one that will appeal to both young and old alike - "Winter Tales" - written by Dawn Casey and illustrated by Zanna Goldhawk.

Winter Tales is a collection of tales from around the world - not just any old tales, but truly mesmerising old folk tales. None of the tales are particularly long, thus maintaining the attention of a much younger audience and the illustrations are utterly captivating.

Each tale begins with an introductory paragraph about which country it comes from and a brief description to help you set the scene. There are some very traditional tales, such as The Nutcracker and The Snow Queen, and then there are lesser known tales (to us here in the UK) with equivalent magical properties. I think my favourite must be The Mitten - a Ukrainian folk tale. I love it's poetic style. My children, who are aged from 7 to 12 have loved sitting and listening to some of these tales at bedtime and reading them has already given us a very wintery, Christmassy feeling inside.

A beautiful gift to share with a child, which will last forever. Available to buy online or from any good booksellers. RRP: 15.99
