This creative approach to the classic ABCs teaches literacy and nutrition by introducing children, parents and teachers to common and exotic fruits from around the world as if they were taking a journey down a produce aisle. The playful rhymes make it an excellent read-aloud, or it can be used a letter at a time by emerging readers. The full-color photographs of each fruit are artistic and appealing, and the author-illustrator ingeniously cut each fruit to form each letter of the alphabet as well. Educational and fun for all ages!
Heather Sisto loves teaching all ages from toddlers to adults. As a professor at Mott College in Flint, Michigan, she taught writing and literature. She also served as artist-in-residence for early learning through the arts programs as a storyteller and creative drama instructor. An advocate for protecting the environment, her current focus is plastic reduction. Heather keeps active with hiking, skiing, photography, gardening and trying healthy recipes. "I'm delighted that my passion for photography has meshed nicely with my desire to promote good nutrition and literacy." Now retired, she and her husband enjoy traveling and gathering with friends and family.
