Finn's druggie Dad is on trial for manslaughter and so Finn is sent away to an exclusive boarding school to remove him from the small-town gossip machine. At first he feels a bit like a fish out of water, but soon makes some good friends and even scores with the much-lusted-after Mia, who plays in the symphonic band with him. However there is someone who knows Finn's secret... Mary-anne Scott was born in Hastings, NZ, into a large family of nine children. Her mother, Joy Watson, authored the award-winning Grandpa's Cardigan series. Reading and music were her main interests as she grew up and everyone in the family learned at least two instruments. Mary-anne is married with four sons, and lives in Havelock North. Snakes and Ladders is her first book.
