Description

Fifth installment in the award-winning Adventures of the Red Hand series.

The previous book in series, Thieves of the Black Sea, named one of Kirkus Reviews Best Books of the Year in 2017.

Fast-paced, classic adventure tales in the vein of The Adventures of Tintin, Rudyard Kipling, Indiana Jones, and Treasure Island.

Features diverse, multi-cultural characters and strong female protagonists.

Author Joe ONeill was called an Ian Flemming of the middle-reader set, by Kirkus Reviews.

Page-turning pace and action make these perfect for reluctant readers.

Like the preceding books in the series, Ghosts of the Hindu Kush is set in historical periods (this time World War I) and exotic locations with colorful, fantastic characters.

Historical setting and accurate details make these perfect for libraries and academic settings as tools to teach lessons on geography, history, culture, and more.

The first book in the series, Rebels of the Kasbah, was an official selection for the Battle of the Books contests, with other titles in the series snagging a Moms Choice Award, Moonbeam Childrens Book Award, Living Now Award, and more.

Multi-channel promotional and marketing plan focused on influencer outreach, paid social/search, trade advertising, and more.

Reviews

"ONeill continues to work his magic. The ingredients are irresistible: spycraft, magic, international travels, cultural rituals, derring-do, fights...exotic locations, and many chances for the young characters to prove their courage, fortitude, cleverness, and resilience.... Another thrilling, well-woven adventure installment." Kirkus Reviews
Spying, magic, battles, calls for courage, and exotic lands...all the elements are in place for a rollicking good read that defies the usual staid approach of the historical novel, spicing action with unexpected intrigue and fantasy elements. The result is both entertaining and educational, providing a thought-provoking adventure that incorporates moral and ethical conundrums over choices and consequences in a story that calls upon the young adventurers to step up to adulthood in many different ways. Diane Donovan, Midwest Book Review

Author Bio

Joe O'Neill was inspired to write the Red Hand Adventures while on safari in Sri Lanka. As he was driving along in an old jeep, under the full moon casting silhouettes of wild elephants against the jungle wall, the image of a rebel orphan in old Morocco popped into his head. While he wishes he could take credit for the idea, it was a story that was already out there, waiting to be told.
