Maisie was adopted and grew up in Birmingham, surrounded by British Chinese foster siblings whose families would often take her all out for delicious Chinese food. Maisie grew up watching lots of kung-fu movies as they were the only people on the screen who looked like she did. Maisie decided to become a children's author so that there was at least one positive chinese role model for children to look up to.Maisie Chan has been a Chinese storyteller in the past and entertained children in libraries, museums and schools with her favourite Chinese myths and legends, all of which feed into the magical world of TIGER WARRIOR. Maisie lived in Taiwan for a while to try to learn Mandarin Chinese which is a very cool language to learn!
