A collection of amusing and clever short tales by the author of the classic and much loved Professor Branestawm books. Full of fantastical places like Kumdown Upwardz, Gadzooks and Urgburg-under-Ug, eccentric kings and queens, lessons in kindness, peace and even royal thriftiness, wrapped up in more than a smattering of nonsense, The Dribblesome Teapots brings together ten modern fairy tales to be enjoyed by generation after generation of young readers. Including original illustrations by Fritz Wegner, this is a charming classic of the future.
Splendidly incredible . . . [These stories] deserve to amuse a new generation of children as much as they amused their parents * The Scotsman *
Full of humour and will be enjoyed as much by parents as by children * Junior Bookshelf *
Genuine wit and ingenuity * Times Literary Supplement *
If you enjoyed Professor Branestawm, you will know what sort of imaginative nonsense to expect * Sunday Mirror *
Norman Hunter was born in 1899 in Sydenham, London. After leaving school and finishing what he described as a 'course of all-in wrestling with typewriters', he became an advertising copywriter. He also began, in 1915, giving performances of conjuring, and made over two hundred appearances at Maskelyne and Devants. His first Branestawm book was published in 1933. After the Second World War, Norman Hunter moved to South Africa, where he continued to work in advertising. Conjuring was still one of his spare time occupations. He returned to England in 1969 where he lived near the river at Staines until his death in 1995.
