Matilda has been travelling abroad with her family, but now shes back in Australia, staying on her
cousin Emilys farm. Matilda loves spending time with the animals, her cousin Emily and her friends
Amy, Jasmine and Bronte (even if shes a bit shy around them after being away for so long). She
especially loves going to the creek and watching the frogs. There is one little froglet she likes in
particular. She calls him Peep because of the funny little noise he makes.
One day, Emily brings Matilda a present. She unearthed an old tin containing a leather pouch and a
beautiful Chinese comb. Where did they come from Why were they left on Emilys farm
Emily knows that Matilda loves history and research almost as much as she loves frogs! So she sets
her cousin the task of finding out.
While Matildas in the station library researching, her friend Jasmine offers to help, but first, they
have to get cheeky Peepwho has stowed away in Matildas jumperback to his home in the creek.
On their way there, Peep escapes! As they search for him in a cave, they discover an old journal.
Could this hold the answers to where the mysterious comb and pouch came from
