Description

Dark magic and danger collide in this action-packed sequel. "They only come at night, when the Star fades" Lark Ainsley escapes the Iron Wood to search for her brother, only to find herself captured and imprisoned in an underground metropolis. Powerful magic protects the city of Lethe, providing sanctuary from the Empty Ones, monsters who hunger for human flesh. But this magic comes at a terrible price, and the city lives in fear of their leader Prometheus and his gang of Eagles. Danger lies in the shadows, and Lark must find the light . . .

Reviews

Spooner's follow up is even stronger and more gripping than the debut and is sure to ensnare further loyal readers. * Booklist *
Fans of the first novel will be delighted; those new to the trilogy will be as well, assisted by enough backstory to follow the action, and both groups will eagerly await the concluding volume. -- Bonnie Kunzel * Kirkus *

Author Bio

Meagan Spooner was born in Washington, D.C., where she grew up reading and writing every spare moment of the day. She has travelled all over the world to places like Egypt, Greece, Antarctica, the Galapagos, Chile, the Arctic Circle and Australia, and graduated with a degree in playwriting from Hamilton College in New York.
