Firry is a very special fir tree. In this book, we will hear Mimi tell her granddaughter, Reese, the story of how Firry grew from a tiny seed into a big, strong, beautiful tree. Firry is kind and is loved by his neighbors and friends. This is a charming and imaginative story for the young and young at heart.
Marie (Mimi) Plumley was born in Syracuse, NY. Her father was a Naval Officer, hence she lived in several places growing up such as Puerto Rico and Florida. She is the mother of 3, grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother to 4 and counting. Reading has always been one of Mimi's passions; in fact, she co-wrote a fundraising cookbook in 1976. On a bet, she earned her Private Pilot-Glider license. A lifelong tennis player and avid fan, family and friends are paramount to Mimi. She has given considerable time and effort to charitable work such as Hospice and Health in Harmony. She is a graduate of Sweet Briar College and was a schoolteacher prior to raising her 3 children with her husband.naMimi's 3 children edited a Tree Named Firry. Christopher W. Plumley, Allan R. Plumley III and Carolyn P. Stombock.Mimi's sister, Carol Lee Sawyer, provided the illustration of the butterfly for the dedication page.Reese's illustration can be seen on the front cover and is the painting of Firry that the girl on the front cover is holding in her hands.
