Her dad can't walk. But she doesn't care about what he can't do, what she loves is what they do together!
Based on experiences from author Nari Hong's own childhood, Days With Dad is a heartwarming story of love and appreciation between a young girl and her dad, who uses a wheelchair. Narrated by the daughter, the story follows an ongoing conversation between the two about the father's regret over what he is unable to do with his daughter because of his reliance on a wheelchair. But his daughter makes it clear that there's nothing to feel badly about. Whether they're sitting on the beach building a sandcastle or drinking hot cocoa and watching the rain, what she loves are the things they can do together.

Hong's soft, childlike colored-pencil drawings convey a strong intimacy on each page...Disabilities bring limitations, Hong indicates, but not when it comes to a parent's love or to time well spent.--Publishers Weekly
Usually, when [disability] is discussed, the conversation shifts to that of burden, pity, and apologies. But there is so much more to the story, in addition to the one society tends to paint onto disabled people. With its gentle colors and humble art style, Days with Dad shows us this other side of the story with a bright smile.--Skipping Stones Throughout [Days With Dad], the tone is positive and joyful, showing that life is about what people can do together and the time spent with those you love. Described on the jacket as semi-autobiographical, this book has been listed on IBBY's 2017 Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities. This book's illustrations add to the lightness of the story with their playful feel.--Waking Brain Cells
In Days With Dad, a young girl could care less about her father's disability (he hasn't been able to walk since he was a baby), she just loves him as he is... Readers will sense an extra tenderness in these drawings because they're drawn from real experiences.--Charles Sutton, Vermont Country Sampler
