Its Christmas Eve! Join Mum and her little Pookie as they prepare for the merriest of holidays. Together they happily walk through the falling snow, bake Christmas cookies, decorate the house, and sing with friends and familyand at last settle down to sleep. Told and illustrated with Sandra Boyntons celebrated charm and pizzazz, Merry Christmas, Little Pookie is sure to become a Christmas classic.
Seven years after Little Pookie first appeared, this popular piglet is finally celebrating ChristmasThe rhyming text mirrors the spare illustrations. A spidery type that emulates handwriting makes it clear when Pookie is speaking. The second-to-last spread shows Pookie, mama, and six other pigsand Boynton's requisite chickensinging (Con brio), MER-RY CHRIST-MAS! MER-RY CHRIST-MAS! AND A HAP-PY NEW YEAR!Finally Pookie hangs a stocking and goes off to bed without any fuss, anticipating presents on Christmas morning. The small size, a predictable winter adventure, and Boynton's very toddlerlike character make this a fine stocking stuffer or an ideal Christmas Eve read to share with other little piggies. * Kirkus Reviews *
Its Christmas Eve, and the eponymous porcine character is out the door as soon as snowflakes start to fall. Snowsuit-clad in festive colors, Pookie and Pookies mother walk in the snow until our noses are frozen. Next, the two make paper garlands, turn on Christmas lights, and bake cookies. After family and friends arrive for a sing-along, its time to hang stockings and head to bed: Tomorrow is Christmas,/ and when it is light,/ we will open our presents./ But for now, its good night. Boyntons big-snouted pig characters and easy-to-read lines again provide a warm and gently humored outing. * Publishers Weekly *
