Sometimes bad luck is more than coincidence ...Pen O'Connell is, without a doubt, the unluckiest girl at Callindra Secondary College. Her dream date's just fallen through, her dog has literally eaten her homework, and don't even mention the incident at school camp. But when Pen meets Sebastian Meyer, teenage genius and genetics expert, she begins to wonder if everything that happens to her really is just bad luck. Could the bizarre theory that's turned every teacher in the school against Sebastian explain why Pen is more likely to get a head injury than a hot date Why does Pen's name strike terror into the heart of pop princess Sereena And just how far will Pen go to get what she deserves
""Mishaps" is well written, uses the language of today's teenagers and is very, very funny. It would also be useful [in the classroom] to introduce discussion about genetics and ethical behaviour." --"Viewpoint"
"Kunze's engaging characters ensure that the journey is smooth and enjoyable. If "Mishaps" were a movie, it would be described as a 'quirky Australian comedy'--but definitely one of a superior quality." --"Canberra Times"
"Themes of celebrity and cloning are explored and the concept of karma cleverly ties the plot together. . . . an amusing read that combines all the right ingredients, romance, pop stars, school, friendship, humour and intrigue to be a winning read for teenage girls . . . an excellent first novel for the 12-16 year age group." --"Magpies"
"There are many twists and turns in the plot, entertaining events and some realistic and convincing issues, delivered in a fast-paced, enjoyable read for teenagers." --"Reading Time"
"This fast paced, exciting read is any girl's answer to a boring weekend!" --"Girlfriend" 'Girlie Read of the Month'
Nansi Kunze grew up surrounded by books in Australia and the UK. After studying languages and ancient history at university, she spent several years teaching overseas-trained doctors how to pronounce rude words and teenagers how to mummify each other, while cultivating a taste for manga and video games in her spare time. Unsurprisingly, her early attempts at writing serious adult fiction failed. Fortunately, she proved to be much better at writing slightly zany young adult fiction. Kill the Music is her third novel, following on the success of her previous two, Mishaps and Dangerously Placed. Nansi lives on a small farm overlooking the Victorian Alps with her husband and son, and is currently hard at work on her next YA book (assuming that hard at work is synonymous with researching glamorous locations on the internet ).
