Horse Tale: Stevie has always longed for a horse of her own, and this summer she finally has the chance to get one. When she and the rest of The Saddle club head out West to visit their friend Kate Devine and star in a wild west show, Kate's dad agrees to sell Stewball, Stevie's favourite ranch horse. But as the day to bring Stewball back East draws nearer, Stevie begins to have second thoughts. Does a ranch horse really belong at Pine Hollow Stables Riding Lesson: Carole Hanson has always wanted a brother or sister. So she should be delighted when her father tells her that thirteen-year-old Marie Dana will be staying with them for two weeks while Mrs Dana is out of town. But instead of being happy about her 'temporary sister', Carole can barely contain her jealousy. Colonel Hanson is making a big fuss over Marie, and Stevie and Lisa are planning a big party for Marie in the hayloft at Pine Hollow.
Bonnie Bryant is the author of nearly a hundred books about horses, including The Saddle Club, Pine Hollow and Pony Tails series. She has also written novels and movie novelisations under her married name, B.B. Hiller. Ms Bryant began writing The Saddle Club in 1986. Although she had done some riding before that, she intensified her studies then and found herself learning right along with her characters Stevie, Carole, and Lisa. She claims that they are all much better riders than she is. Ms Bryant was born and raised in New York City. She still lives there, in Greenwich Village, with her two sons.
