Author Bio

Cecily Anne Paterson grew up overseas, going to boarding school in the Himalayan mountains and spending her holidays in the deserts of Pakistan. She's the author of eight books for girls, including the CALEB Prize winner, Charlie Franks is A-OK, and the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award semi-finalist, Invisible. Her 'brave-hearted' stories for preteen and young teen girls focus on friendships, real life and growing up. Her writing has a distinctive, contemporary Australian voice that's both innocent and emotionally complex. She hopes her characters will inspire girls to make great friendships and to be great friends themselves. All Cecilys novels so far have been situated on the NSW South Coast, particularly in beautiful Kangaroo Valley, where she lived for ten years. Wombat Books has published the Kangaroo Valley School series, including How Not To Be Popular, Smart Girls Dont Wear Mascara, and now Lola in the Middle. Cecily enjoys playing the cello, op-shopping and making things. An experienced and accomplished speaker and presenter, she loves doing writing workshops and author visits for schools. Shes also presents an online Write Your Memoir course through the Red Lounge for Writers website.
