Description

A hilarious fantastical romp from a talented debut author.

Bruno Pockley has a talent. A prodigious talent. But hes only just discovering its worth When Bruno is sniffed out by a specially trained Trumpenhund as having world-class phartling potential, its as if all his dreams have come true. Finally, his talent is being recognized! Then he and his classmates are taken to the court of the Knights Trumplar in the Kingdom of Phartesia, where theyll learn to play the ancient Phartlehorn for a performance of epic proportions. Starry-eyed, the children are determined to prove themselves to the magnificent Duke of Phartesia and his beguiling daughter. However, things are not always as they appear and when Bruno and his friend Grace stumble upon the sickening truth about the Knights Trumplar, the wind is quite literally taken out of their sails.

Reviews

There are several pretenders to the throne of Roald Dahl - writers such as Andy Stanton and David Walliams have brought us tales brimming with strangeness, humour and imagination, in her first book, M.L. Peel proves she can stand amongst them... This engaging, evocative read has a flotilla of vivid characters and daft ideas - and it's not as crude as you might expect. We Love This Book Full of daft humour and funny characters, it will particularly appeal to boys. Booktrust very amusing with a valuable lesson -- (10 year old reviewer) Selvedge

Author Bio

After graduating from Oxford with a first-class degree in English, Megan Peel worked in advertising for ten years, where she was involved in a variety of projects that included an anti-knife-crime campaign for the Home Office, working alongside young people involved in gang violence. Megan has wanted to be a writer ever since she read Roald Dahls Revolting Rhymes as a child, and after attending a childrens writing course in 2008 she decided to quit her job to write full time. Megan lives in Yorkshire with her husband and two cats; this is her first novel.
