This is a story about freedom - the same freedom we today take for granted. This is a book about faith - the type of faith which makes nothing seem impossible. Through vivid imagery and heartfelt storytelling, "The Day God Came" brings to life the story of Juneteenth, the day that marked the end of slavery in the United States. This book is a must-read for parents, educators, and anyone who wants to teach children about the significance of Juneteenth and the ongoing struggle for racial justice in America. With Juneteenth now recognized as a national holiday, "The Day God Came" is a timely and essential addition to any child's bookshelf.
A native Texan, T. Berry graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. After graduating, he began a career in education which spanned over four decades; working as a high school social teacher, basketball coach, and administrator. As a teacher, he developed a passion for storytelling and educating students about the people, events, triumphs, and tragedies of the past so they could become well-informed citizens. He started writing merely as a hobby and also enjoys reading and is an avid sport fan.
