I'm the son of Frankenstein's Monster. Just found out myself actually. Each body part used to build my dad is like a relative of mine. So I'm tracking them all down and piecing together this Monster mystery!
...this may be a good choice for "Wimpy Kid" fans.-- "Salt Lake City Tribune"
I've worked with Scott Sonneborn on numerous television shows and can honestly say I have never met anyone more creative, naturally funny and entertaining. I know that Mary Shelley herself would shake her head in wonder at Scott's hilarious, empowering take on this horror classic. Bravo!-- "Gabe Abelson, staff writer for "Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Sh"
...a fun read that pays homage to old black and white monster movies like Frankenstein (based on the original book by Mary Shelley) and The Wolfman. This is the first book in what will hopefully be a series about J.D. and his strange adventures. . . .Middle school students will love this delightfully clever story and the brave, strange-looking J.D.!-- "Kids Reads/The Book Report"
...stocked with jokes, blotches, gross bits, typeface changes, side notations, sketched vignettes and color illustrations. Spindly the plotline may be, but it's greened up with a few yuks and rises from an unusually fertile series premise.-- "Kirkus Reviews"
A monstrously entertaining book. I loved every part. Body part that is!-- "Peter Hannan, creator of Nickelodeon's CatDog and author of My Big Mouth: 10 Son"
Just like Frankenstein's monster, Scott Sonneborn has stitched together an epic quest, a family mystery and an amusing cast of characters into one laugh-out-loud adventure. I can't wait for more.-- "Rob Hoegee, Writer Teen Titians"
Monstrously charming and laugh-out-loud funny. I loved it!-- "Steve Kort, author of The DC Super-Pets Character Encyclopedia"
Sonneborn cleverly links the body parts with strengths J. D. didn't realize he had (a detective's eye, an explorer's feet) and gives characters names that sharp readers will recognize (Mr. Shelley, detective Sam Hammer). Colorful, full-page illustrations and J. D.'s witty doodles add strong visual appeal. . . .Will J. D. find more cousins and his famous monster father in the next book Only his nose--or his ear, hand or arm--knows. Readers who love monsters, mildly gross humor, and action-packed silliness will want to join him on his quest.-- "School Library Journal"
Scott Sonneborn has written more than 20 books, one circus (for Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey), and a bunch of TV shows. He's been nominated for one Emmy and spent three very cool years working at DC Comics. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two sons.
