Description

Can a quirky kid's spectacular (accidental) invention solve all his problems

A third of all people flush the toilet when they're still sitting on it. Welcome to just one of the many weird and random facts that thirteen-year-old Morgan McCracken spews whenever he is nervous or excited, which is most of the time.

The oddball trivia really overflows when Morgan inadvertently invents something everyone wants. He finds himself and the girl he has a crush on running for their lives from greedy opportunists who plan to cash in on Morgan's multizillion-dollar hair-raising discovery!

Morgan's path is full of surprises as he navigates bullies, kidnappers, the lure of fame and fortune, and his heart's desire.

Wit and humor shine in this quirky and fun middle grade debut!

Reviews

"Youll enjoy this witty, tongue-in-cheek journey just as much as the destination. The McVentures of Me, Morgan McFactoid is a quick and enjoyable read, filled with fun and endearing little facts that are as quirky as the narrator.Foreword Reviews

"Life takes a decidedly exciting turn for nerdy young genius Morgan McCracken when a bolt of lightning transforms an experimental hair-removal formula he has concocted in his garage workshop into a superfast (if temporary) hair grower. Not only does the red goop prove eminently useful for frightening off a vicious bully, it instantly brings balding crowds to his doorstep, waving humongous amounts of cash. Even more thrilling, Morgan connects with dazzling schoolmate Robin over a shared penchant for random facts (Marie Curies notebooks are still radioactive. And Donald Duck never wore pants). Ultimately Morgan comes around to Robins view that outer appearances mean nothing compared to whats inside, and passes up the prospect of wealth and fame. Whether or not readers buy into his line of reasoning, they will enjoy his highly comical misadventures and perhaps even give his secret recipecomposed of dozens of household ingredients and included in its entiretya whirl." Booklist

"Kids will root for Morgan as he makes tough choices. VERDICT: A solid purchase; ideal for reluctant readers and those interested in science."School Library Journal
