Reviews

  • Another delightful outing with this dynamic duo.Kirkus
  • Thomas energetic, two-toned gray and orange cartoons bring this madcap graphic novel to life. Onomatopoeia, hilariously absurd situations, and clever wordplay will please readers moving on to longer graphic novels. Kirkus
  • Giggleworthy graphic-novel goodness. Kirkus
  • The purpose of junior fiction and junior graphic novels is to really get kids hooked into reading, and Gustav and Henri has all the required ingredients: a lot of fun, three different bite-sized adventures, and a bold, appealing hybrid graphic-novel design with plenty of entertaining little trimmings on the page. The first in a series,Gustav and Henriwill excite readers and make them look forward to more reading. Did I mention there are also riddles, activities and a recipe for victory nachos Reading rules! Readings
  • This series is off to a fun start. The characters are well established right out of the gate and consistent throughout all three stories. Gustav is the impulsive one and Henri (actually short for Henrietta) is always there to get them out of trouble. Matthews makes the story fun and fast but never rushed. Despite a limited palette of blue, gray and black, Thomass art is a fantastic complement to the story. Every page is creative and interesting to look at.School Library Journal
  • This will be a popular series for elementary and middle school age kids who love humor, science fiction and fun. School Library Journal
  • 'This hilarious graphic novel ... promises enjoyably absurd adventures.' Publishers Weekly
