Description

100-year-old debut author Isabelle Burge was tickled pink when the very first fan of her picture book, How Mr. Rat Got His Cheese, was her own great-grandson. Now she's hoping that the story of Mr. Rat's quest to achieve his goals will help the next generation of children discover the fruits of cooperation, persistence, and friendship. Developed as a teaching tool for children to learn their vowels, this delightful rhyming book is a fun journey with new friends and a valuable lesson. In this delightful rhyming book originally used in the classroom, Mr. Rat knows that what he wants most in the world is that cheese. Unfortunately, the umbrella ant is living in it. How to get it He comes up with a cunning plan that will not only get him the cheese, but help his friends the cat, the elf, the inchworm, the otter and, finally, the umbrella ant, along the way. He learns that by being kind and thoughtful and a good friend, everyone can end up happy in the end. This is especially helpful for young children who need to learn their vowels, or for children who have a hard time getting started on reading. This book was originally used in the classroom with children who were having difficulties reading.
