A lifetime of Love for a father, one last promise fulfilled. How The Horse Ate The Apple is the first children's book based on the poems written for Charles Blount's father, Southern Lawyer, Jerry Holmes Blount. Once asked how he came out in court on a case Jerry told Charles "I taught him how the horse ate the apple!". Always amused by his father's Southern Sayings Charles wrote a two page poem depicting how an older horse bested younger horses with his life learned wisdom. "The trails spiraled left and right and around, down several deep dips as the youngest wore down". A life lesson any child should learn. Adults may not be the fastest or strongest but they sure can be the wisest! Charles promised his father he would make the poems he made for him into children's books two weeks before he passed away. A way to share his father with the world. Be on the lookout for the next Southern lesson based on Jerry Blount's southern saying "Come The Revolution".
Charles Arthur Blount is an LA based personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur from Mississippi. The son of a colourful Southern attorney, Charles wrote poems for his father based on his Southern sayings, leading to the creation of his first children's book HOW THE HORSE ATE THE APPLE. Setting out to create these books for his poems, Charles discovered Pedro du Buf, a European artist who has been able to perfectly capture the essence of the stories. Charles formed Southern Charm Books as a way to produce and showcase children's books with Southern themes.
