This book is about a 4 year old boy named Jared who has an insatiable curiosity about the natural world, especially little critters. Always pleading to keep these found critters for his very own. He finally convinces his parents to let him keep a Woollybear caterpillar. His attachment to this caterpillar and the way he cares for it is heartwarming. It then teaches children the valuable lesson of letting go. It's a story most young children can relate to and enjoy. It also includes teaching of the seasons and the life cycle of a caterpillar.
Debbie Wilhelm Siraco is a retired special education teacher who taught preschool through 2nd grade for 35 years. She also has a degree in art education and has shown many of her paintings in galleries throughout her home state of Connecticut. Her latest paintings can be found on Etsy.com under The Land and Sea Gallery. Once retired she decided to complete the illustrations and self publish this book she had begun over 20 years ago. This is her first picture book based loosely on her sons' fascination with caterpillars. She has returned to the school where she taught to try out the book on small groups of students and found the kindergarteners and first graders had connections both with the character and and the experience.
