"Rosy Goes to School" is a tale about the challenges of those who learn a little bit differently than everyone else. Rosy learns a little bit differently from her human class mates because she is a pig. She goes from spending her days lounging around her pen to attending school and even asking for more homework. Rosy is very intelligent pig. How did she get so smart...
Lauren is a student at First Presbyterian Day School in Jackson, Mississippi. Lauren was diagnosed with dyslexia at the end of her second grade year. She wrote and illustrated her first book, Rosy Goes to School in fourth grade as part of her dyslexia therapy. Through her therapy, Lauren developed a love of writing and reading. Lauren has described her experience with learning with dyslexia by saying, I am not ashamed to say that I have dyslexia, it just means I learn differently than others. Through therapy, I have learned I could do anything anyone else can do.
