When Buddy the Butterflyfish takes a bite of some yucky-tasting coral, his family realizes they have to move if theyre going to be able to find anything to eat. But all they can find is seaweed and more yucky coraluntil they discover a group of secret agent unicornfish whose job is to eat the seaweed and make sure the coral stays delicious for Buddy, his family and all of the other sea creatures! Your child will delight in the story of a butterflyfish family and a squad of unicornfish, and will learn that people play an important role in the survival of aquatic life.
With vivid illustrations and a story that young children will easily follow and enjoy, Sea Stories: A Butterflyfishs Journey to Find Delicious Food will not only entertain but teach about the how interconnected coral reef animals are and what must be done to keep reefs healthy for all ocean life.
As a kid from Minnesota, Dr. Danielle Dixson only saw the ocean when her family visited her grandparents in Florida. At five years old, Danielle visited the Shedd Aquarium and promptly decided she wanted to become a marine biologist. She loves SCUBA diving on coral reefs, and runs a lab that works to understand how changes to the ocean affect the behavior of the animals that populate the coral reef. Sea Stories: A Butterflyfish's Journey to Find Delicious Food is based on a research project she conducted in Fiji, where she studied the effect of too much seaweed on coral reefs and how it affects the butterflyfish.
