A heart-warming animal story from the master storyteller, Dick King-Smith Flora was born on the first day of term in the new school year, which might be why she's a very special mouse indeed - a mouse who has taught herself to read! Flora lives in a classroom, and is determined to learn all sorts of things that no mouse has ever learned before. Her family is horrified at first, but then Flora's reading saves their lives ...
Formerly a farmer and a teacher, Dick King-Smith was best-known for his third career as a writer. His phenomenally successful children's stories are marked by endearing humour and characters of unique depth and life. THE SHEEP-PIG won The Guardian Award and was transformed into the blockbusting film, BABE, which added hugely to his profile. Dick lived in Keynsham, near Bristol. He died in 2011 at the age of 84.
