When the World Was Upside Down is an illustrated children's book which follows Sully the Seagull through his adventures in New York City during the Great Pandemic of 2020. He lands at several popular New York City landmarks to check on his friends. Readers will get a tour through the city as well as the challenges the pandemic has brought to the people and other creatures of New York. It is a book filled with feelings and hope that both children and adults can relate.
Anne Markowitz Recht has been writing poems and rhymes most of her life. Professionally, she is a social worker who works with seniors. Anne received her Bachelor's of Arts in Communications from Albany State University and her Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University. Anne lives with her husband on Long Island. She enjoys hiking and skiing when she is not writing.Laurie grew up painting and drawing her way through school in NYC where she ultimately received her Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art and Creative Writing from CUNY Hunter College. She then fell in love with the healthcare field and received her Master's of Public Administration from Mercy College. She is currently raising her three school-aged children in Irvington, NY
