Description

This edition of the 826 Quarterly contains fiction, non-fiction, and poetry written by authors ages 6-18. The pieces are selected from all the 826 programs (drop-in tutoring, workshops, in-schools, projects, field trips) and at-large submissions. Pieces are chosen in a traditional literary journal style by an editorial board comprised of students and volunteer tutors.
This particular issue features a fictional story about a boy stuck in a glow stick, a poem about a balloon who's afraid of popping, a personal essay about having two names, an excerpt about a pair of exploding boots, and investigative journalism about soul surfers, as well as a healthy selection of stories from the world outside of San Francisco. These pages are filled with imagination, wit, and charm that is sure to captivate readers of all ages.

Author Bio

826 Valencia is based in San Francisco. Molly Parent has been coordinating educational programs to support youth with their creative and expository writing skills at 826 Valencia since 2012. Prior to joining the team at 826, she was a bookseller at Green Apple Books in San Francisco. She lives in San Francisco. E. Eastman received an MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco; his award-winning essays have appeared in the Noe Valley Voice, InDance, the Bellingham Review, Fourth Genre and Switchback.
