Set in modern Australia, Daniella Murphy yearns to play rugby league, just like her brothers do, but time and time again the idea is rejected. Her grandma says no, her dad doesn't say anything, and the school bully just laughs in her face. But that doesn't stop her. Daniella Murphy is going to play rugby, she just has to figure out how to prove to everyone that it doesn't matter if she's not a boy, she can do it. An empowering sports story about a young girl trying to make her way in what some people still think is a "boy's" world. Determined to pursue her passion, she sets out to show that she's just as capable as the other ... even when she's set back by an accident.
Rikki-Lee Arnold has been writing books since the age of seven, when she would spend her Saturday mornings creating worlds and characters while watching Rage and Video Hits. These days, she is also a sports journalist and has worked through her decade-long career at The Courier-Mail and Sunday Mail covering NRL, women's league, tennis, AFLW, cricket and more. Her combined love of writing and sports particularly womens sport has led to her debut middle grade novel, The First Tackle. Rikki-Lee lives in Brisbane with her supportive husband and her two cheeky sons.
