This book follows a garbage collector through the work day, and describes the occupation and what the job requires.
What youngster would not like to find out what it's like to be a garbage collector This well-designed volume in Capstone's First Facts series follows the same format as the other books in their Community Helpers at Work set--simple questions and answers about sanitation work with clear, colorful photos of the garbage collector's workday, hour by hour. The only disappointment is that there is no picture of the gaping maw of a giant garbage truck as it masticated a load of trash, although there is a good photo of the top of a landfill. Excellent explanations of the safety concerns and equipment are offered in language simple enough for the very young school-age child to understand. A glossary, brief age-appropriate bibliography, website and index complete the text of this attractive research volume.-- "Children's Literature Comprehensive Database"
