Reviews

...a good book for very young girls that are into fashion...-- "NetGalley Review"
...simply adorable for young artists. . . .a good book for inspiration...-- "Chics Get Lit blog"
...this book is a homerun. I have so many talented girls in detention that always ask for drawing books we will be getting two of this title.-- "NetGalley Review"
As far as clothing style goes, this book covers everything. They have gothic, steam punk, classic, hard rock, you name it. There is great advice and tips on every style. . . .There were a lot of things about this book that were helpful for a young artist. Much of the text was worthwhile to read, and the process behind the illustrations was correct and useful.-- "Books For Kids blog"
Bolte's entertaining and useful tips are the highlight of the book. . . .Readers will enjoy flipping through and picking up drawing advice...-- "School Library Journal"
Good guide to fashion drawing with extensive coverage of different fashion styles.-- "NetGalley Review"
I can see 5th and 6th grade girls clamoring to check this book out. The book is well designed, with illustrations that show how to draw models in different poses and dress them. . . .With 146 pages there should be plenty for the fashion conscious to try to draw.-- "NetGalley Review"
I have recommended this book to students who I teach who are obsessed with fashion and need to put some quality and variety into their drawings.-- "NetGalley Review"
Numerous designs and styles inspired by various cultures and walks of life are represented in this drawing guide. . . .will most likely appeal to middle-school and high-school aged girls who are into drawing fashion.-- "NetGalley Review"
The clothes are spunky, the poses are fun, and all types of girls are represented, from sporty to studious to frilly. . . .I think my budding artist will enjoy trying out these sketches, and will be inspired to branch out with some original creations after reading all the advice scattered throughout the pages of this book.-- "Hammock Librarian blog"
The designs are pretty good, though, and they include accessories that complete the look so it really does feel like you're looking at a real design before it goes off to be produced. The thing I liked most about this book, however, are the little tips on what kind of coloring medium to use and how to blend the colors to make the drawing better.-- "Second Bookshelf on the Right blog"
While this may look like an instructional title, it reads like Teen Vogue ("Don't get swept out to sea looking like a shipwreck. Sweep through first class like you're the captain of fashion"). . . .Attractive and colorful, this will be most appreciated by fashionistas seeking direction and inspiration--and those who can already draw.-- "Booklist Online"

Author Bio

Brooke Hagel has been an Artist ever since she could hold a crayon. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she majored in Fashion Design with an Art Specialization. She has worked in the fashion industry, wardrobe for television and theater, styling, art direction and product design and development. She opened an Etsy shop a few years ago because fashion and drawing were passions of her that she had not been doing enough of in recent years. Her shop has been successful and brought her many great freelance opportunities. Marissa Bolte has written or edited hundreds of titles over the years, but topics on history and books done in graphic format are her favorite. When she's not reading, writing, or researching, she's at home in rural Minnesota with her husband, child, and pets, which include a geriatric dachshund and a revolving door of foster cats.
