Tonya Bolden's books have earned much praise and numerous starred reviews. Her work has been recognized with the NCTE Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children; CBC/NCSS Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People, and the NCSS Carter G.
