In early 1836 a small group of volunteer soldiers in Texas withstood a 13-day siege by a large Mexican Army force. Inside an old Spanish mission called the Alamo the outnumbered Texans resisted fiercely until the Mexicans finally stormed the structure wiping them out. Through vivid narrative follow the experiences of people on both sides of the Alamo's walls as they clashed in what became an iconic moment in history.
Steven Otfinoski has written more than 150 books for young readers. Three of his nonfiction books have been chosen Books for the Teen Age by the New York Public Library. Steve is also a playwright and has his own theater company that brings one-person plays about American history to schools. Steve lives in Connecticut with his wife, who is a teacher. They have two children, two dogs, and a cat.
