The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown have been tough on all, especially children. The young ones who are used to going to a nurturing classroom full of their peers undertook a drastic shift in their day to day lives. But staying indoors doesn't need to be sad! This poem is a collection of inspiring and energizing ideas that will make spending more time inside with your family a bonding experience.
"While We Were Home... We Made Masterpieces" is an easy-going poem that provides ideas for kids to pass the time at home. It also highlights the hard job of frontline workers and their children.
R. P. Brown is a mother of four who enjoys interesting textures, sounds, unstructured creativity and imagination. She is an attorney, event planner and venue owner, but her most important job is being a mother. She impresses upon her children the importance of the arts and how essential they are in the development of the mind, independence and most important as a form of therapy. Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic R.P. has encouraged her children to draw, paint, sing and dance to express their feelings of anxiety, fear, and loneliness in a healthy manner. Needing to express her own feelings with remote learning, R.P. wrote this poem pairing her children's paintings and drawings while they were home.
