Meet a wise redwood tree, a sassy squirrel, and many other animal friends, all trying to put a stop to her less than environmentally -friendly behavior. Only when a crazy-haired funny lady with a serious mission to clean up the environment comes along, does our little hound turn things around!

Fun, quirky, with many silly language twists and turns, Round Town Hound is based on a real town in Marin County, CA, ( and a real dog!) with an important message about the small steps we can all take to create a more sustainable environment.

It is also a story of the importance of belonging, of respect for indigeneity,
and of keeping joyful connection in our collective care of the world.

Author Bio

Anna Gottreich, MA (U.C Berkeley, Latin American Studies) is a Marin County native, who grew up surrounded by redwood forest in the hippie-dippie days of 'old' Mill Valley, and also Bolinas. Her children's story is based in modern day, partly grafted onto which is a soft memory of a time in a town where dogs ran around as freely as the patchouli- scented passerby. Ms. Gottreich is a multilingual educator, who enjoys creating stories as well as reading them, and using various goofy accents to do so. She is also a professional Brazilian dance artist. Round Town Hound is her first children's book.

Ms. Gottreich lives with her dog, Jupiter (and Round Town Hound look-alike), in Calistoga, the land called 'Nilektsonoma', or "Chicken Hawk Place" and 'Tu La Hallusi', "A Beautiful Land", by the Wappo, the indigenous people who lived there for 500 - 5,000 years.
Illustrator Robin Ahlgren is a long -time west Marin resident, and has been a painter most of her life. She creates colorful hand painted clock faces, for customers all over the world.
