Description

When night falls and all is quiet, there is a whole world of activity, deep in the heart of our native bush . . . Get up close and personal with the flora and fauna of our country over a 24-hour cycle. Follow the nocturnal kiwi and weta as they scour the forest floor for food in the early hours; flit amongst the trees with the tui and kakariki as they announce the arrival of a new dawn. Let Gillian and Darryl Torckler guide you on an immersive journey into the intimate world of our native bush wildlife, featuring fascinating facts and stunning photography.

Author Bio

Gillian Torckler was that annoying kid in class who always asked 'why'. That curiosity led to a career in science and she still loves to explore new ideas and learn new facts. She writes all kinds of books, but she particularly enjoys writing fact-based books, like this one. As a child, Darryl Torckler was fascinated by sea creatures. As a teenager, he decided to become a professional photographer and began to photograph landscapes and animals. Darryl's photographs have appeared in magazines and books and won many awards all over the world. Together, Gillian and Darryl have created 12 books for both adults and children. Many feature New Zealand wildlife, and the habitats in which they live.
