A child listens to Koro and Grandma as they weave a tale about the life and times of the ancient puriri tree Taketakerau, the settlement and development of Aotearoa New Zealand, and world events over the last 2000 years.
Marnie Anstis and her husband Peter own and run a farm and kiwifruit orchard near the Hukutaia Domain, where the Taketakerau tree still stands, in Bay of Plenty. Taketakerau: The Millennium Tree, is her first book. Patricia Howitt works as a freelance artist and has artworks in collections in New Zealand and abroad.
