Explore nature's history with the most visually stunning timeline of life on earth ever created.
Created in association with the Natural History Museum, the two-metre fold-out timeline stretches back 4 billion years to the first signs of life in the seas. Witness the emergence of multi-cellular life, the colonisation of the land, the reign of dinosaurs, mass extinctions, the migration of mammals, and finally, the story of humanity from the first two-legged hominids to a world populated by more than 7 billion people today. An easy-to-read chronicle, written in the form of newspaper articles, highlights key moments such as understanding the science behind sight and how rocks can reveal the Earth's age. Other features include a page of letters to the editor, a fifty-question quiz, and a pocket magnifier to make it easier to dive into all the timeline's details.
Perfect for 6-14 year olds, and nature lovers of any age!
The What on Earth series of wallbooks have become known for delivering the facts - on various subjects - in a fun, informative and visually appealing way. These books deliver on many levels and I couldn't be more impressed. Never mind the children - I'd like the whole series for myself! * pocketfullofrye.co.uk *
It simply sings to info-philes and visual learners alike. With parallel timelines for all continents, developments on land, sky and sea, more than a thousand illustrations, it is a superlative mastery of design and research, a treat to eye and brain alike. -- Lucy H Pearce * Juno magazine *
Bestselling author Christopher Lloyd began his career as a journalist with the Sunday Times newspaper. Then, while camping with his family, he had a critical realisation: even with a 1st class degree in history from Cambridge University and experience as a science writer, there was so much about the world he didnt know. So, he set out to write books that zoom out and tell the big stories, opening readers eyes to how seemingly unrelated events fit together and showing them multiple perspectives on the world, all in highly engaging prose and matched with lively illustration and photography. Now, with several books in print, including the bestselling What on Earth Happened and Absolutely Everything, Chris divides his time between writing books and delivering lectures and workshops to schools, literary festivals, and a wide range of other venues around the world. He lives in Tonbridge, Kent, UK, with his wife and two adorable terriers.
Andy Forshaw graduated in graphic design and illustration from Londons Central Saint Martins college, and has worked on numerous online and publishing projects.
