Haydn Kaye studied history at Oxford University, and has taught and written about historical subjects ranging from the pyramids to the Olympics. Mike Smith won the 2010 Macmillan Prize for children's book illustration, and graduated with an MA in Children's Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in 2011. He has created picture books and comic strips for The Phoenix comic, as well as a diary-comic blog, for many years.
