A story to entice fussy little eaters to look beyond the beige and explore a whole new colourful world of food! Mums in a bad mood. Shes fed up with all the beige foods in the kitchen, like chicken nuggets, chips, pasta, crisps, cereal so shes taking her children to the supermarket to play a game. But you cant play a game in the supermarket, can you Yes you can! This ingenious new book from Claire Potter helps to break down the fussy eating headache by turning choosing new foods into a game. Every day of the week we see two children go to the supermarket and pick food they would like to try - but there is a twist. The food must be a certain colour, chosen by their mum! On Monday she tells them to choose three RED foods, on Tuesday three YELLOW foods, on Wednesday three GREEN foods What foods will they pick And how will they eat them There are so many to choose from Which ones would YOU pick And how would YOU eat them
Its colourful, fun and I love the illustrated foods as well as the ideas the children in the story get up to. Im definitely going to be trying this with my fussy 3 year old! * The Bookworm Baby *
This is a fun, non-judgemental approach to picky eating that should definitely encourage youngsters to try some new foods and Claire Potter, the author includes two sets of notes to help adult sharers to get the most out of the book. -- Jill Bennett * Red Reading Hub *
This book is great for at home or at school; I've enjoyed naming the foods and discussing them with my toddler and I could see the scope of activities at school - particularly with Early Years and Key Stage 1. There are clear links to healthy eating, DT and science. -- Liz * ReadingZone *
I love how the story describes what the children do with the food- how they eat it or use it to make something tasty. Each page is wonderfully illustrated and I love the use of colourful language to describe the different foods. -- Rascals and Rainbows * Instagram: @rascals_and_rainbows *
This could be a great way of encouraging kids to try new foods and think about food in a fun, healthy way. -- Story Centred Play * Instagram: @storycentredplay *
Which Food Will You Choose by Claire Potter and [illustrated by] Ailie Busby is a fabulous interactive picture book that gets children thinking about all the wonderful, colourful food there is to eat. It has provided us with hours and hours of fun and games. It is perfect for little ones who are fussy eaters, or for children like my daughter, who love cooking and play-pretend shopping. * PictureBookPerfect123 *
The variety of food in the picture gave discussion to new foods that weve not tried and learning more about the ones we are more familiar with. -- Jane * The Green Parent *
A stunning, beautifully illustrated book offering great opportunities to discuss foods with fussy eaters. The book could easily be used in early years settings, offering a great stimulus to get young children think about foods they are familiar with, and introducing others. -- @digicoled * UKEdChat *
Claire Potter is a freelance educational writer and mother to two wildly different creatures: a big, robust, outdoorsy challenge-seeking boy (who left to his own devices would probably attempt to scale a ten-storey building with a piece of elastic and an old nail) and a much younger, calm, creative, home-loving girl (who could create an entire pink fluffy world with a pot of nail vanish and some bird feathers). Pulled in both directions, Claire loves to scour her brain, her home and the outside world for ideas that lead to mini-adventures and (good) mischief to get up to with and occasionally without! her children.
