This book is packed with tricks and experiments that involve the five senses, anatomy, physiology, nutrition and physical challenges, gadgets (like a reaction timer) to make, plus optical illusions. For example - sight: disappearing dot - find the blind spot in your eye; hearing: hearing bells - make a coat-hanger sound like a church bell; taste: sweeter sugar - convert ordinary sugar to 'invert sugar', which is 20% sweeter; smell: smelly family - identify your family's clothes while blindfolded; touch: two-point discrimination - simple test for different body parts; learn amazing facts and truly scientific trivia about human bodies and how they work.
Ruben Meerman decided to study physics at school in an attempt to sit next to a hot girl. Sadly, this didn't work, but it was the beginning of another beautiful relationship with science! Ruben did a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physics at Queensland University of Technology and worked for a while in an optical lab. Things started to head in a different direction when he was accepted into the Graduate Diploma in Science Communication at the Australian National University. Ruben is a regular on the ABCs ROLLERCOASTER and also CATALYST.
