"What Happened" is a gentle starting place for children to learn about, and talk about, an inevitable part of life. This book introduces children to some of the many things people experience when someone they know dies. Whether a child has experienced a loss themselves, or they know someone who has, this book will help the adults in their lives answer some of their many questions and point them positively towards the healing process.
As Mr. Rogers is purported to have said, "Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that's mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."
Jamee Wetzel has served children in a variety of ways throughout her life. She has administered a Mom's Day Out program She has composed children's songs and taught music. Her understanding of the grief process began while studying for her master's degree and increased while providing hospice care to aging family members. Jamee is currently using her talents and knowledge in her work as a children's grief facilitator. Over the past twelve years she has worked with over a hundred elementary-aged children as they navigated their grief. Jamee is the mother of two adult daughters and lives in Lynchburg, Virginia with her husband Jerry.
