Today I know just where to go.
Crossing the street, Pap says
la mano, and takes my hand.
A young boy and his pap spend the day together, sharing stories, laughter, adventure, and abrazos, hugs! They may speak both Spanish and English, but most importantly, they speak the language of love.
Arthur Dorros popularized the narrative style of integrating Spanish words into English prose in his award-winning book, Abuela. Now, in this Rayo co-publication, Dorros uses the same style in a loving story about the close bond between a bicultural father and son. Illustrator Rudy Gutierrez captures the moving and magical moments in his vibrant, fluid paintings.
Arthur Dorros views being a writer like being a traveling detective. He finds ideas all around. He learned Spanish while living in Latin America, and many of his stories, such as Abuelo, grow from those experiences. Arthur is the author of many books for children, including Julio's Magic, a CLASP Amricas Award Commended Title; Pap and Me, a Pura Belpr Honor Book; and the popular Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science book Ant Cities. He lives in Seattle, Washington.
